Esthetic Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to improve the appearance of the eyelids and provide a fresh and youthful appearance.

BEFORE & AFTER

Esthetic Eyelid Surgery

Over time, excess skin and sagging can occur in the eyebrows, upper and lower eyelids. The drooping upper eyelids of a person might make it difficult for them to see as well as cause an aesthetic issue and they might consider different types of eye surgeries. During esthetic eyelid surgery, this extra skin is removed, soft tissue is strengthened, and excess fat mass is removed. It is possible to get a lovely appearance as well as comfortable eyesight.

Esthetic Eyelid Surgery Procedure

People who wish to seem younger and more rested in and around their eyes can consider the procedure. The esthetic eyelid surgery is performed in a hospital operating room under the guidance of an anesthesiologist. Depending on the patient’s current complaints, just the upper or lower lids, or both lower and upper lids, can be done at the same time. The operation will just take a few hours at most. It is possible to return home the very same day.

Recovery After Esthetic Eyelid Surgery

Typically, the period following surgery will go normal. Swelling around the eyes is common. For a brief amount of time, the eyes may become very sensitive. After esthetic eyelid surgery, your eyelid may be puffy and bruised for up to three weeks. These are anticipated phenomena that occur spontaneously within the first week. Stitches are removed one week after the surgery is done. You may continue to see improvements in your new look for up to three months. A few days later, most people feel comfortable going out into the world and returning to work.

What is Esthetic Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to improve the appearance of the eyelids and provide a fresh and youthful appearance. The surgery can be done on the upper eye lids, lower eye lids, or both.
Eyelid surgery can rejuvenate the area surrounding your eyes especially if you have hooded eye. Even if you do not want to improve your appearance or experience functional problems with your eyelids, your vision can sometimes be affected negatively with hooded eye, which necessitates the eyelid surgery.

What are the benefits of this surgery?

Things you will get rid of with the esthetic eyelid surgery:
#The skin that folds and sags in hooded eye,
#Fat deposits that look like swelling in the upper eyelids,
#Fat deposits on the lower eyelid creating a baggy look,
#Excess skin and fine wrinkles on the lower eyelid.

Will this surgery solve whole problem of the periorbital area?

It needs to be kept in mind that the eyelids create a whole with the existing features around them. It is not correct to think of the eyelids separately from the eyebrows, forehead, temple and the midface area. The appearance of a hooded eye can also be caused by loosening the forehead skin and eyebrow. In this case, with eyebrow lift surgery or only eyebrow lift surgery should be considered. Drooping lower eyelid sometimes has to be corrected not only with blepharoplasty but also with additional mid face lift surgery. Sometimes, one of the muscles that lift the upper eyelid may be elongated or cause a saggy eyelid appearance due to a different structural problem. This is called eyelid ptosis and requires a different surgical treatment.

Surgery and Early Period of Aftersurgery

It takes 2-3 hours depending on upper and/or lower eye lid involved the surgery. I almost always perform hooded eye surgery under local anesthesia but if lower eyelid is involved to the surgery general anesthesia is to only option. Procedures to be added may prolong the operation time.
Since the eyelids are very thin structures, in case of any movement during early period of after surgery, there will be small bleeding due to the irritation of that area and as a result the subsequent swelling will increase. For this reason, I prefer to keep the eyes closed with an eye pad to rest until the next morning. This is done to ensure that you are faced with much less bruise and swelling.
There will be thin bandages which are placed on the wound at the end of surgery. These bandages will be taken off at the 5th-7th day. The sutures will also be taken off at the first visit. After I clean the area, thinner bandages will be applied for 1 more week. During 2nd week you will be allowed to wash your face and even to take a shower
